Air Compressor Operation Guidelines under Low Temperature in Winter: Prevent Freeze Block and Shutdown

1. Risk of Low Temperature Environment

When the ambient temperature drops below 0℃, the condensate water in the cooling water circuit, gas pipeline, drain valve and dryer is easy to freeze. Freeze block will block the pipeline, crack the cooler, drainer and pressure vessel accessories, and lead to forced shutdown or equipment damage.

2. Pre-Start Inspection Before Winter Startup

Check all automatic drain valves first to ensure smooth drainage. Clean the condensate inside the drainer. Check the heat preservation layer of water pipes and gas pipes, repair damaged insulation. For units with water cooling system, check antifreeze concentration of cooling liquid in advance.

3. Normal Daily Operation Requirements

For water-cooled units running continuously, keep the circulating water flow to avoid static water freezing. For air-cooled units, ensure that the control cabinet and the sensor do not suffer from frost condensation. If the workshop temperature is too low, auxiliary heating equipment can be arranged in the compressor room. Keep the air compressor room well ventilated but avoid cold wind directly blowing on the unit.

4. Shutdown Operation on Daily Off-Shift

After daily shutdown, run the unit for a short time to blow off the condensate. Open manual drain ports of gas storage tank, pipeline and cooler to drain all accumulated water.

5. Long-Term Shutdown Storage

Cut off the main power supply for long-term shutdown. Drain all accumulated water completely from water circuit and gas circuit. Cover the whole machine for dust prevention and thermal insulation.

6. Emergency Handling for Freeze Block

If the pipeline is frozen and blocked, DO NOT start the machine forcibly to boost pressure. Thaw the frozen position slowly with warm water. Open flame baking on pipelines is strictly prohibited to prevent weld cracking. After thawing, drain the water again, and install heat preservation and electric tracing band for vulnerable frozen positions.
