US Releases Preliminary AD/CVD Ruling on Air Compressors, North American Buyers Shift Sourcing to Middle East & Latin Am

The US Department of Commerce issued the preliminary anti-dumping and countervailing duty ruling on July 27, imposing temporary high cash deposits on stationary and portable air compressors imported from China, Vietnam and Malaysia, covering all screw and piston models. Hit by rising tariff costs, major North American industrial distributors sharply cut orders for Chinese complete machines and transferred inventory procurement to the Middle East and Mexico.

Manufacturing sectors in the Middle East and Latin America gained remarkable incremental demand, with inquiries for Chinese permanent magnet VSD compressors and mining portable compressors surging. Manufacturers boosted inventory at overseas warehouses in Mexico and Turkey to offset order losses caused by US trade barriers.
